This is the First Color Images Mercury from orbit

The first photo taken by NASA's MESSENGER drone of the orbit is actually a sequence of eight images. Like what?

These color images obtained through filters at 1000 nm center wave, 750 nm, and 430 nm are shown in red, green, and blue. One of MESSENGER is the purpose of measuring, creating a global map of eight colors at a resolution 1km/piksel.

This map to help understand the variation of composition across the surface of Mercury. On March 17, 2011, MESSENGER became the first plane to orbit Mercury.

This mission is now in the phase of the commission during the flight and instrument performance verified through a series of activities designed specifically.

In the course of the primary mission of this year, seven science instruments aircraft and radio science investigation will reveal the history and evolution of the planet closest to this solar system.
